Throughout April Regular Business Hours Art Exhibit - Jerry Depew "Going With The Grain" TAAS-Gallery April Feature Artist
Feature artisan wood crafter Jerry Depew, of King’s Mountain, takes a wood specimen and evaluates its natural grain. He then painstakingly sculpts each piece following the flow of the wood. His works produce fine art sculptures as well as functional art utensils including spoons, knives, spatulas and letter openers. "Wedding Spoons" are a specialty; each comes with a display stand and written history of the tradition.

Another unique craft developed by Jerry is wood collage. Utilizing the natural colors and grains of a variety of woods including persimmon, spalted maple, oak, osage orange, walnut, birch, cherry and purple heart, he then cuts either with the grain or cross-cuts, producing shapes and textures that he reassembles using inlay and overlay to create intriguingly dimensional landscapes or impressions.

Please come in to The Appalachian Artisan Society Gallery during the month of April, and enjoy these wonderful works of art inspired by nature and utensils going with the grain.

Feature Artist Jerry Depew’s expanded display is available throughout April. His pieces are available for sale in both the Handcraft gallery and in TAAS-Fine Art Gallery.
