Artisan Bio: A few years ago in 2003 Debbie was drawn to a local potter offering classes on how to make pottery. So she signed up for the class and that was the beginning of making pottery. Working with clay began with throwing on the wheel, finishing the leather hard pieces, bisque firing, glazing, glaze firing and she was hooked. Then she found another way to make pottery from another local potter that is commonly referred to as hand building and found her new joy in working with clay. Debbie hand builds most of her pieces today.
Debbie purchased a potters wheel in 2005 to have more time to make pots. After the wheel was there for a while Fred decided to give it try. Well that is all it took and now Fred was also hooked in making pottery.
Our functional pottery is made using stoneware clays using the different techniques like thrown on the wheel, altered and hand built. Then glazed and fired to cone 5 or 6 in an electric kiln. The glaze colors that we currently use produce the browns, greens and blue.
